In 1966 “Don Wood Photography” was born.
What started out as humble beginnings in 1966 as a small home-based business and an idea to create “A beautiful way to remember” special occasions, has now grown into a strong foundation, documenting memories for over 50 years.
In 1989 Stuart Wood, son of Don Wood joined his parents on a full-time bases after completing his HSC. Stuart worked full time while studying at UTS in Sydney. In his final year he was honoured with Student of the Year – a fantastic achievement, but this was just the start to his accomplished photographic career. Stuart went on to become;
- The Australian AIPP Wedding Photographer of the Year
- The NSW Wedding Photographer of the Year (twice),
- The AIPP Ilford Trophy for the highest scoring photograph in Australia and New Zealand.
With a string of awards to his credit, Stuart was the recipient of his third Masters – making him at the time Australia’s youngest Triple Master – a truly great achievement.
1999 Don and Marion Wood retired and handed the Business to Stuart Wood.
2000 Stuart was once again awarded the PMA – Young Achiever of the Year.
Don was also honoured with the inaugural Henry Talbot Award for services rendered to the Photographic Industry. He was a very humble recipient, saying, “He had loved every day of his working life” this is definitely a Wood trait.
Stuart’s professionalism, strong work ethic as a highly accomplished photographer and Dedication to his craft is second to none. He has been apart of his family’s business all of his life. He has a pure passion for what has become his life’s work.
